Chinatown Families Rally DA’s Office

Today family and friends of Hayley Ng and Diego Martinez, two children killed on January 22, 2009 when an idling van jumped the curb in Chinatown, held a rally calling for the District Attorney's office to convene a grand jury to investigate the crash. Jon Adler: We cannot turn our backs and condone reckless driving. We cannot turn our backs and ignore the seriousness and the safety of our children. The Grand Jury needs to be convened now.

Lauren Ng: What kind of city is this when it does not protect its most vulnerable citizens? Child or adult, this tragedy proves that the streets of Chinatown are dangerous and the city should be [00:30] investigating what happened, how it happened, and more importantly, how to prevent things like this from happening in the future. I never want this to happen to any other family.
