One of my pet peeves as a pedestrian is the tendency of drivers to rush around corners while pedestrians are still crossing, despite the fact that, in our grid of a city, they will have a red light at the next intersection after they turn. For some reason, I notice this the most with taxis that have... no passengers in them. What is the rush? Would it kill you to let the pedestrians walk across the intersection (after all, they have the light and are in the crosswalk)? Waiting for the pedestrians to cross isn't going to get you to your destination any slower because you're going to have to wait at the next light anyway. Grr, I can feel my blood pressure rising as I write. Not sure how to show this best as a StreetFilm, but it's not bike related, it could be filmed locally, and it is of universal interest, as it applies in any pedestrian situation around the country (nay, around the world!). I'll put some more thought into this...

Sorry, sometimes we are NYC-centric in the mind. Basically NYC-NJ-Conn....but throw out any ideas if it makes you feel good. We can always try and hire a freelancer in other parts of the country.

I've long thought that either streetsblog or streetfilms should do a fashion/design piece. I was just noticing in the Uncommon Goods catalog household items (a bowl, a clock, I think) made of recycled bike chains, and my middle school penpal, Titania Inglis, makes wearable stuff out of recycled bike tires. I'll bet there are a host of similar things out there. Kind of stupid, but kind of fun, too?
