See what it is like to live and visit Ghent, Belgium. Thanks to the Traffic Circulation Plan implemented in 2019 the city is safer to get around by bike, foot & transit, it’s quieter, less pollution and now more trips are made by bike in city center versus vehicles.

Advocates and communities around the world have been talking about Paris School Streets not only because they make streets safer on those blocks for kids but by the swift and ample number Paris is implementing. A defining film hadn't been produced by any entity, so Streetfilms set out to change that with an excellent tool to enlighten & inspire.

Transportation Alternatives held yet another rally and march across the south outer roadway of the Queensboro Bridge path after NYC DOT failed for the 5th time to meet their set date to open it to peds, walkers & runners.

Streetopia Upper West Side's vision for West 72nd Street includes some core ideas like bus priority lanes, connecting Central & Riverside Parks with safe bike lanes, more space for pedestrians to sit and relax and repurposing the curb for deliveries.

Recently NYC DOT installed 2 miles of new parking-protected bike lanes on the east & west sides of Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside. They're very wide and have transformed the corridor. Our before/afters are unbelievable to see.

Sean Quinn, NYC DOT's Associate Deputy Commissioner of Office of Livable Streets, gave us an exclusive about recent places systemwide where the department has been adding concrete to better protected bike lanes.

While on a summer family vacation in Montreal for the 4th year in a row, I brought my tiny gimbal along and just started recording because it seemed everywhere we went there was ample daylighting/curb extensions with almost always beautiful flower plantings or arrangements. So VIOLA! a montage for you!

While on vacation in Providence, RI, I observed this stretch of West Main Street where they've installed a series of these modular speed humps and they work really really well. They would dramatically slow most vehicles from the 20-30+ mph range to 5mph (or less!).

In 2023 the NYC City Council decided to make outdoor dining permanent but impose more strict requirements. Some rules were welcome, but the unacceptable stipulation that passed was that the program would no longer be year-round, essentially killing many of the streeteries, some with very elaborate, beautiful designs with copious greenery. Some restaurants spent a lot of money to put them up.

Stockholm is a wonderful city to walk, walk & walk! But nearly everything else is great too, the public space, the shopping, the transit and - wow - bicycling there is just getting more & more enjoyable. Now on nice non-winter days, about 32% of the downtown city center use the bike to get around and to work!
